Young Audiences Artist Programs
About YA Artists | Performances | | Young Audiences artists are dedicated professionals selected through a rigorous application and accreditation process that assesses both their artistic abilities and skills as teachers of young people. While part of Young Audiences’ roster, they receive peer-mentoring through our award-winning Coaching Cadre program, as well as professional development in best practices and regular formal evaluation. | | Performances are one-time events that introduce students to an art form and/or culture through entertainment, education and audience participation. A Program Guide, which includes information about the artist, the program, the art form and vocabulary, is sent to the school prior to a scheduled performance and can be downloaded from our website, www.ya-or.org. | | | Residencies | Workshops
| | A Residency is a sequential series of classroom visits by an individual artist, designed to help students gain proficiency in a particular art form by immersing them in a long-term creative experience. Young Audiences’ Residency Planning Agreement must be completed and signed by the artist and principal prior to the start of a residency. For residencies of 5 or more sessions per classroom, Young Audiences recommends a Teacher Workshop to heighten the impact on student learning and promote sustainability. | | Through Workshops, artists provide an introductory encounter with an art form by presenting a hands-on experience. Classroom workshops may be post-performance presentations, a series of one-time events in individual classrooms, or part of a Family Arts Night. Teacher workshops can take place at the end of the day or at a staff meeting. All workshops typically incorporate a demonstration with a hands-on experience. Young Audiences’ Workshop Agreement must be completed and signed by the artist and principal prior to the start of all workshops. | | | | | | | |
