Supporting the Black Community, Protesting Police Brutality

Young Audiences of Oregon & SW Washington sent the following message out to our community on June 4, 2020:

“We at Young Audiences of Oregon & SW Washington mourn the brutal and senseless murder of George Floyd by four Minneapolis police officers. We stand in solidarity with the Black community to protest police brutality, institutional racism, and individuals that continue to commit horrific crimes against Black people. We redouble our commitment as racial justice allies, and vow to work collectively to help dismantle racist practices in our many institutions until we achieve liberation for all.

Please watch this powerful speech from this weekend — full of honesty, pain and hope — by brilliant local education leader, Kali Ladd, Executive Director of KairosPDX.

The work of dismantling racist systems, institutions, and attitudes is ongoing. We have continued and will continue to highlight learning resources for our community and spread awareness of the many wonderful black-led organizations that help make this local arts community so vibrant and impactful for all ages.
