Close your eyes, take a deep breath…Now, IMAGINE there is a soft knock at your door….

…When you open the door… you discover your very own, one-of-a-kind, made just for you, MAGIC CARPET! 

What does your carpet look like? What colors does it have? What lines, shapes and patterns do you notice? How would you describe its texture?

This fabulous and magnificent carpet is ready to take you on an adventure!!

Where will it take you?

Draw it! Create it!

Your Magic Carpet will soon be ready to take you anywhere you want to go!

 

Learning targets:

  • Exploring a variety of artistic mediums along with practicing and using fine motor skills: drawing, coloring, cutting, gluing, etc. 
  • Making personal choices as an artist. Visualizing an idea and then creating it! 
  • Experimenting with line, shape, color, patterns and design.  
  • Self-awareness and self-expression 

Supplies: 

Any variety of the following: 

  • Markers, pens, colored pencils, crayons, oil pastels
  • Glue
  • Scissors, hole punch
  • Yarn

Supplies including glue, colorful papers, scissors, coloring tools, yarn.

 

Instructions:

Now, have fun creating your beautiful and unique magic carpet using your supplies!

Can you create different kinds of lines using your scissors?

Cut paper with scissors.

 

Are you adding shapes? What kinds of shapes?

Collaged papers and marker marks with a marker and glue.

 

Are you using warm or cool cools? Or both?

What is the texture of your magic carpet? How can you show it?
